Ms Carolus is the Executive Chairperson of Peotona Group Holdings, a women owned and managed company, that puts back 2/3 of all their profit into communities where they operate and draw their workforce from. This money is used for education and enterprise development in those communities.
A chemical engineer, registered as a Professional Engineer in South Africa and a Chartered Engineer in the UK, he spent 25 years in the mining industry with Anglo American, Samancor, Gencor, Billiton and BHP Billiton in various production management, technology development, project management and business development roles.
Dr Martyn Davies is the Managing Director of Emerging Markets & Africa at Deloitte Frontier Advisory. Martyn has been ranked the # 1 analyst in South Africa in the “Other African Economies & Markets” category as awarded by the Financial Mail in its prestigious Annual Analysts of the Year awards.
Will Dawes has over 20 years’ experience in the mining sector, encompassing mineral exploration, investment banking and equity research. Having trained as a geologist in South Africa, he worked as a mining analyst based in London and then for Rio Tinto's exploration division.
Henk de Hoop holds an MSc in Mining Engineering from the University of Delft, Netherlands, and he is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He started his career as a Graduate Mining Engineer at Goldfields of South Africa, followed by 2 years at Sasol as an Explosives Engineer.
Alugumi Dzebu is the Senior Investment Manager for Anglo American’s enterprise development arm, Zimele’s Partnership Funds, and his responsibilities include managing the Anglo American sefa Mining Fund, which focusses on promoting mining-related investments in the junior mining space.
Jónatan Jacobs is a full-time Honours student at the Department of Mining Engineering, at the University of Pretoria, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering. He is currently in the process of researching the potential applications of Augmented Reality in the mining sector.
"Paul Jourdan is an African integrated development expert specialising in resource-based and spatial (corridors) development strategies. He has wide experience working on economic growth & development in Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, the SADC, West and East Africa.
Mr Keyter was appointed a director on 9 November 2012 and was appointed an executive director and CFO of Sibanye Gold effective 1 January 2013. Previously, Mr Keyter was Vice President and Group Head of International Finance for Gold Fields.
Mr Fidelis Madavo is the Executive Head: Listed Investment at the Public Investment Corporation (PIC) of South Africa. Prior to this he was Head of Resources and Portfolio Manager for Strategic and African Listed Investment, also at the PIC. Before joining the PIC in 1997, he was Vice President in the Mining Team at Citigroup based in Johannesburg.
Norman is a member of the Group Management Committee (GMC) and deputy chairman of Anglo American South Africa (AASA). Norman Mbazima, has headed Anglo American’s South African iron ore business Kumba Iron Ore since 1 September 2012 when he joined the separately-listed company as its chief executive.
Sandy McGregor joined Allan Gray as an investment analyst and economist in October 1991. Previously he was employed by Gold Fields of South Africa Limited in a variety of management positions for 22 years, where much of his experience was focused on investment related activities.
Rick Menell has had a 35 year career in the mining industry, heading Anglovaal Mining and Teal Exploration & Mining up to 2008. He has previously served as President of the South African Chamber of Mines, as Chairman of the South African Tourism Board and on numerous boards as director, Deputy Chair or Chairman including Harmony Gold, Bateman Engineering, ARM, Avgold, Associated Manganese, Standard Bank Group, Mutual & Federal Insurance, Telkom SA and the Business Trust.
Appointed to the Board in 2015. Thando Mkatshana has more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry. His career started with Anglo American Coal in 1988, where he gained extensive experience working in production at various Anglo American Collieries.
Barend Petersen is a chartered accountant with broad international business experience in mining, finance, auditing, oil industry, energy, government relations, business turnarounds, corporate recovery, consulting and corporate governance.
Sipho Mila Pityana is Chairman of AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. Having joined the board as senior director in February 2007, he is the chairman of the Nominations committees, and a member of the Remuneration and Human Resources and Social, Ethics and Sustainability committees. He was previously the Chairman of the Remuneration Committee
Kerwin has 20 years of minerals and energy resource industry experience in Southern and East Africa including being the Head of New Business for De Beers and was a founding director and Executive Chairman of Sunbird Energy Limited (“Sunbird”) in 2011.
Dion Shango was appointed as Southern Africa CEO on 1 July 2015, the first black African to be appointed to the role. Prior to his current appointment Dion acted as Deputy CEO and as Leader of PwC’s Energy, Utilities and Mining (EU&M) Group.
Peter initiates the design and development of systems and processes and services to ensure sustainable coal delivery, and to shape the organisation within the external socio economic environment as a responsible player in the coal mining industry.
He is very actively involved in many aspects of the minerals industry and since early 2012 has been a partner in African Mineral Exploration and Development (AMED), a Luxembourg-registered natural resources fund, which continues to look for good mineral exploration investment opportunities in Africa.
Within Harith, Erik is responsible for the existing energy portfolio as well as new acquisitions in the energy sector. Prior to joining Harith, Erik headed business development at Cennergi – an independent power producer joint venture between Exxaro Resources and Tata Power.
